I am finally reading this book.
I think you should read it, too.

Including many contributions by people involved in the hardcorepunk scene, living a sober life and being politically active.

A very good reading; not finished yet, but what i have read to this point is very inspiring.

The hardcorepunk scene to this day is filled with indifferent and sceptical behaviour towards politics, and i can even feel a little guilt about that.
If things are not working the way we want, we are the ones and only who could strive for a change.

I will write something more about this one when finished.

BORN AGAINST the rebel sound of shit and failure

Ultimamente ho riflettuto molto sul fatto di avere un passato e di come fare a riviverlo, rielabolarlo, analizzarlo, trarne il meglio e tirare avanti. Thrashmaniac 'Zine è il nome, di fatto dietro questo nome c'è molto, molto di più. Ho avuto modo di riflettere molto su come, in generale, in questo Paese si viva il rapporto con il passato, il passato che spesso, sempre più in fretta, viene dimenticato per fare posto al nuovo, il "nuovo che avanza" e che deve essere sempre più lindo, brillante, scintillante e non deve recare con sè ombre di nessun genere.
La realtà è ben diversa. Il nuovo Governo Monti, insediatosi come "governo tecnico", ha fatto inizialmente gridare al miracolo.
Titoloni esplosivi sui giornali, Berlusconi e compagnia mafiosa finalmente fuori dai giochi; o almeno così pareva, tutti coloro che gridavano al miracolo, certi che una nuova classe politica fatta di persone oneste e capaci stesse per portare alla salvezza e alla giustizia il tanto bistrattato paese.
Così non è stato; l'ubriacatura iniziale è passata e resta così l'hangover del giorno dopo.
Hangover che si sta dimostrando per quello che è: se inizialmente, nelle parole del professor Monti, la manovra economica avrebbe dovuto essere equa e "far pagare coloro che hanno di più e che finora non hanno pagato", nella realtà dei fatti chi sta pagando questa crisi, creata da banche e speculatori di ogni genere, sono i lavoratori del ceto basso e medio basso.
Non a caso i rincari maggiori si hanno nei beni di primo consumo che più gravano su chi, come il sottoscritto, guadagna 1000 euro al mese.
Benzina, alimentari, bollette, acqua...la lista è infinita.

Non ho gridato al miracolo prima nè grido allo scandalo adesso.
Citando i Ramming Speed, la frase che mi rappresenta meglio in questo momento è "always disgusted, never surprised" e sto ancora aspettando che qualcuno mi stupisca, positivamente, cosa che non accade dal penultimo Fastfest (inserire faccina sarcastica, plìs).
Quello che mi dà maggiore rabbia è la continua tensione che scava nel cervello e che mi tormenta al pensiero di come possa essere possibile trovare una strada per il cambiamento. Non c'è fiducia in nessuno, politico o rappresentante di una qualsiasi istituzione, la sensazione di tradimento è quotidiana e l'unica ricerca della soluzione risiede nel contatto quotidiano con le persone che mi circondano al lavoro, ai concerti, per strada.

Continuo ad ascoltare la radio, a leggere articoli, interviste, a giornalisti, funzionari dello stato, rappresentanti di associazioni più e meno no-profit e sono tutti d'accordo nel porsi l'obbiettivo di riuscire a riportare la legalità nel mondo del lavoro, il rispetto delle norme e delle leggi, un giusto adeguamento delle buste paga nei confronti dell'inflazione...boom; poi mi ritrovo a suonare con gente che ha due lauree e fa 3 lavori da ricercatore per avere 700 euro al mese (quando va bene), che ha lavori con contratto a progetto dove non ci sono condizioni di garanzia, dove periodicamente sei appeso al filo del licenziamento o della riconferma, dove non hai malattia, non hai ferie, dove ti viene risposto "se ti va bene è così, altrimenti quella è la porta", mentre alla televisione le solite vecchie (nel senso di furbe, anziane, ammuffite) maledette facce ti ripetono che stanno lavorando per migliorarti l'esistenza.

Sembreranno parole retoriche, sentite e risentite, ma la situazione è questa e c'è poco da fare. Sono parte della classe operaia di questo paese e ne faccio parte con orgoglio, il che non significa che mi faccia sentire speciale l'essere sfruttato quotidianamente, ma mi fa sentire parte di un esercito di sfruttati che, in qualche maniera, dovrà trovare una soluzione ed una valvola di sfogo.

Mi piacerebbe che i miei colleghi invece di pensare come sarebbe fico comprarsi l'ipad a rate chiedessero più incontri con la cooperativa per parlare del rapporto mansioni/lavoro/busta paga; o ancora di quanto il sindacato di categoria si stia sbattendo per il rinnovo del contratto e l'adeguamento ai dati dell'inflazione e del costo della vita.

In tutto questo ci piazzo la musica: anni fa comprai questo disco dei BORN AGAINST, una raccolta di singoli e compilaton tracks.
I B.A., capitanati da Sam McPheeters, erano una spina nel fianco all'ipocrisia del sistema americano tanto quanto alla stessa scena hardcore nuovaiorchese.
Li ascoltai con ardore, mi infiammai leggendone i testi. Così come feci per altrettanti gruppi di quel periodo, vedasi Los Crudos, Heroin, Clikatat Ikatowi, Frail, Chokehold, Seein' Red, Spitboy, Kindred, Morning Again...potrei andare avanti per ore.
Ho tonnellate di C-90 con su gruppi hc anni '80/'90, megapoliticizzati e non, ma soprattutto non necessariamente "thrash".
Chiudo tutto questo sproloquio con due cose:

- continuo a credere nei furti e negli atti di vandalismo.
Rubate nei negozi, rubate negli autogrill, rubate soprattutto cose costose che possono servirvi quotidianamente (batterie, rasoi, cibo...) o anche che non vi servono ad un beato cazzo. Rubate per sfregio e rovinate le vetrine dei megastore che più vi stanno sul cazzo; sputate sui macchinoni e sulle troie impellicciate.
Riprendetevi quello che vi è stato tolto, senza dimenticarvi che non è tra poveracci che ci si deve fare la guerra ma colpendo chi, quotidianamente, giustificato da ordini e leggi sfrutta al ribasso il vostro lavoro.
E mette a dura prova la vostra pazienza.

So, i have been unactive for at least 3 months because i had something else to do.
I have changed job, went to a psychiatrist, tried to kill myself with booze and drugs, tried to buy an irish pub - and the bartenders still hate me because i missed the goal - went on tour with my band YOU SUCK! and, last but not least, i have moved in a new, bigger, incredible house.

Now i am a real mountain man (is it the correct english term? I definitively hope so).

Now i live in a big house on the hills...got a garden, a vineyard, a double garage with a practice space all for myself!!!

...but i still got no friends.

Here it is.
2 years in the making, and at the end of the recording we called it a day.
It's not the same as the previous stuff; in fact, it's more metal.
I am a bit sorry, not because of the band itself - i personally don't give a fuck about the fact that we split - but because of the two guys who worked hard on this one and their efforts will be nullified...well, they are the mighty PIFF from Trento (the recording dude) and ICIO from Vicenza (the man behind the desk).

I have waited a bit before putting this one for share, but right now - who cares? - steal this album and play those songs in your backyard, it will be funny!

We have done a good job here.
Not a great one, i suppose; we could have done a bit better.
In the last year and a half the band was working slower than in the past, mainly due to myself living in another town and we had no permanent bass player.
Tadzio, who plays in 10000 different bands here in Italy, made his effort on this one (forgot to tell ya, one track was played by Piff because Tadzio forgot to do that...yeah, it's not a joke).

Well, a lot of time since my last post.

I got a new job, i am moving in a new house, i am leaving next week with my band
YOU SUCK! for a small Germoney tour with great friends SICK TIMES, so there are many many things to write about but not enough time for actually doing it.

Meanwhile, my other band xZIO FASTERx has finally recorded a rehersal tape.
Straight from the rehersal room, recorded on cassette, then we kicked the resulting processs on a computer, just to pump up all the volumes. Then back on tape.
Recording done by our great friend Luca Ovnzi, who seems to play guitar in You Suck! too.
It will see the daylight as a real cassette in a couple of weeks. 70 made, 50 regular and 20 in a special edition with bandannas envelopes.

Hardcore old school suonato da dei 16enni brufolosi, consci di non essere più nella Washington dell'81 ma con quel modello in testa.
Con un nome così, non potevano andare molto lontano.
E difatti si sciolsero poco dopo l'uscita del demo.
Dal vivo erano una manata incredibile.
Pazzeschi.

Mi sono rotto il cazzo di sentire gente in giro per la strada (ma quando), ai concerti (ah ecco) o in rete (appunto) utilizzare la parola THRASH per cose a caso.
Siccome ogni due per tre là fuori nascono dei nuovi geni (o genii? come cazzo si scrive il plurale di genio?) che pensano di saper dire/fare/poter giudicare tutto perché hanno letto 3 righe su wikipedia allora chiariamo le cose.

(questo c'entra? penso di sì. l'ho aggiunto circa un'ora dopo aver scritto tutte 'ste boiate)

Quando ancora non eravate che un'ipotesi, e molto probabilmente vostra madre e vostro padre manco si conoscevano, THRASH era un termine con cui venivano indicate quelle band hardcore punk dal suono più marcio di quelle della prima ondata (un esempio su tutti: gli SOA di Rollins erano un gruppo THRASH, mentre i Dead Kennedys no - poi il fatto che a me i Dead Kennedys diano fastidio, musicalmente parlando, mentre invece adoro gli SOA, quello è un altro discorso).
THRASH era il termine con cui si indicavano i gruppi hardcore punk dal suono grezzo, marcio, più veloce della media degli altri gruppi del genere, melodia praticamente assente, voce urlata più che cantata. Vi sembrano cose da poco?
Se successivamente è esploso il fenomeno del THRASH METAL, non è un problema mio. A me che me ne fotte?

I gruppi metal segaioli che vi ascoltate voi, in quel periodo non si chiamavano ancora THRASH, bensì SPEED METAL...che in pratica era della NWOBHM suonata a velocità più elevate della media.
Quando, a metà della prima metà degli anni '80 (e qui vi voglio), l'hardcore punk incontrò l'evi merdal (gioia e gaudio per alcuni, morte e disperazione per altri) allora si cominciò a parlare di THRASH METAL.
Se i Merdallica non avessero mai ascoltato i Misfits di Earth A.D. o i Discharge (ok, o i Motorhead) o tutta la scena thrash di New York (un esempio? degli incapacissimi - ma da me AMATISSIMI Agnostic Front periodo "United Blood", primo settepollici con alla batteria futuro Warzone Raybeez - pace all'anima sua) difficilmente qualcuno avrebbe coniato il termine.
Quindi se pensate che THRASHMANIAC ZINE significhi SOLTANTO che passo la giornata a farmi le seghe sui dischi dei "BIG 4" OF THRASH (maccosa!!! 25 anni fa forse) siete sulla strada sbagliata.

(questi son svedesi, non c'entrano molto con questo post ma ormai, a me, non me ne frega un cazzo, quindi ascolta e taci oppure chiudi il browser e leggiti un libro che è meglio va)

Di certo non rinnego la mia radice merdallara, e vorrei ben vedere; se non fossi andato da Transex (lasciamo stare...chi non è stato metallaro a cavallo tra gli '80 e i '90 non sa di cosa sto parlando, torni pure a farsi le seghe su Puntorosso.it) a comprare Scum in cassetta, Harmony Corruption in vinile e la backpatch di Kill'em all oggi non sarei la stessa persona.

E, con ogni probabilità, oggi sarei una persona più meglio.

"The "historical" Hardcore punk compilation New York Thrash, as the name says, it was a compilation album released by ROIR in 1982, documenting the New York Hardcore scene of the early 80's, featuring such bands as the Bad Brains, Adrenalin O.D. and the Beastie Boys. Yes, the Beastie Boys had actually formed as a Hardcore punk outfit in the early 80's, but by the late 80's, their sound had drifted into a Hip Hop direction, which was actually better lol, seriously, Beastie Boys work in Hip Hop is better than their Hardcore. Anyways, New Yorks Hardocore scene was late developing compared to most other cities (i.e. Washington DC, Phoenix, LA, San Francisco). It also included more bands from outside of New York City, many coming from New Jersey (e.g. Beastie Boys) and Long Island. Also, it should be noted that the Bad Brains are from DC. But were briefly based in New York due to an unnofficial ban at most DC nightclubs, caused by the bands often unpredicted stage antics of lead singer H.R.. Anyways excellent album, great to blast off your earphones and develop a short-lasting case of Tinnitus.

Per concludere: se volete farvi un'idea dei gruppi THRASH (punk) del periodo, una brevissima lista - oltre a quelli già presenti sulla compilazia, of course.

Oggi mi son svegliato così.

Apro fb e trovo video di gente incredibile con nomi incredibili, non vorrei postarlo per non fargli pubblicità; ma è giusto che capiate.

Non li conosco, non so chi siano, ma so solo che
A - sono milanesi
B - la tipa del video è pisellabile
C - la canzone fa davvero CAGARE

Quindi tutto questo basta a farmi salire il sangue alla testa.

In realtà ero stato tirato in ballo da questi, visto che ci suona un mio socio.
Il mio socio si chiama Luca Ovnzi (che in guajarati si scrive લુકા જવ) ma in realtà di ovnzi ne son rimasti ben pochi, il suo nome è un altro ma a noi piace così.
Semplici cose per persone complesse e complessate.

Il mio socio in questione, per gli amici serbi quel Луца јечам di cui non si conosce il domani, suona anche in questi altri, che hanno uscito un 10" molto bello.
Il loro nome può dare avvio ad una serie di sfottò ("ah puzzate?") ma in realtà non è bello farlo, nè divertente, nè tantomeno rappresenta la realtà.
Non è fast hardcore, non è grindcore e non è powerviolence, ma a me piace.
Chi mi conosce sa che può piacermi anche altra roba rispetto ai soliti blastbeat, zombie, Slayer, donne diversamente giovani e diversamente piatte, un posto al sole - detesto l'inverno.
Al contrario, chi non mi conosce bene ma solo di sfuggita potrebbe rimanere deluso.
Ottimo.
Che noia è avere sempre delle certezze???

Che due coglioni con il solito discorso "si muore dal caldo".
Che cazzo pretendi? Babbo Natale con le renne anche in Agosto?
La gente è mediamente rincoglionita.
In piena estate e pieno inverno lo è ancora di più.
Per non parlare delle mezze stagioni: se piove troppo - emergenza, "ma hai visto quanto piove?" - se non piove mai, emergenza pure quella.
Pensa piuttosto ad ascoltare qualcosa di decente, che hai le orecchie piene di merda come John quando cercano di fargli ascoltare del ROCK.

L'inverno è una stagione pacco.
Fa freddo, non si può fare un cazzo all'aperto.
Bisogna rinchiudersi in casa o nei locali.
A me non piace uscire se non c'è un concerto.
Quando ero pischello uscivo solo per farmi le canne o andare ai concerti.
Crescendo, ho smesso di farmi le canne e quindi uscivo solo per i concerti.
Adesso ai concerti mi tocca andarci quasi esclusivamente quando ci devo suonare.
Il prezzo da pagare per la sopraggiunta età adulta.

I LORDS OF LIGHT non esistono più, o almeno penso.
Hanno realizzato un 7", un LP ed uno split 7" con gli Iron Lung.
Sono in 3: chitarra baritono (tipo quella che usa Ian MacKaye negli Evens - get evens) batteria e voce.

(Apro una para-entesi. Se non vi piacciono gli Evens siete delle enormi teste di cazzo. Non ha senso. Se vi piace il rock non possono non piacervi gli Evens. Aldilà del fatto che qualsiasi scoreggia registri Ian ha diritto di entrare nella (anti)-rock'n'roll hall of fame, ma ripeto, aldilà di questo...che se non apprezzate gli Evens siete delle persone brutte e tristi, e anche piuttosto inutili).

Il primo singolo su 625 è una bomba del cazzo. Hanno un suono particolare, non saprei come spiegare, è scarno e pieno allo stesso tempo. Mischiano blastbeat con rallentamenti prog e tempi dispari. Non pensate al math ma a qualcosa di più divertente e meno cervellotico.
Il disco successivo, "energy", Lp sempre su 625.
Quando lo comprai mi fece cagare.
Invece cazzo, riascoltato a qualche anno di distanza si è rivelato essere una conferma di quanto buono fatto in precedenza.
Se vi piacciono i gruppi che sperimentano partendo sempre da una matrice fast hc ascoltateli.
Il disco è vecchio, ma sono sicuro che non tutti lo conoscono.
Per fortuna esistono ancora i giovani da istruire, a questo mondo.

La famosa data alla Festa di Radio Onda d'Urto insieme ai Suicidal Tendencies non si terrà più, per motivi tecnici di cui a me, sinceramente, non frega un beato cazzo.
I Suicidal li ho già visti diverse volte e non saranno di certo i dinosauri della bandana ad impedirmi di assistere al macello creato dalla new sensation del death metal indipendente americano.

Il disco nuovo, Beneath Grow Lights Thou Shalt Rise, edito da Tank Crimes records, è un passo in avanti nello sviluppo di forme death metal brutali, senza compromessi, ma con diversi elementi nuovi non presenti nei dischi precedenti.

Alle mazzate brootal death si uniscono riff melodici di scuola svedese e qualche accenno thrash della bay area. Mixato da Erik Rutan (esticazzi???).

Diocane non vedo l'ora che mi arrivi l'ordine Tank Crimes con dentro la diehard edition del nuovo lp!!!

Nel frattempo l'ho dovuto scaricare perché non ne potevo più di attendere.

Già mi sembra assurdo che la richiesta dei giudici debba passare per l'approvazione della Camera, e vabbè.
Quello che mi manda fuori di testa è che a livello sociale c'è uno sbrocco generale, sfiducia, rabbia, depressione...tanta depressione.
Sono circondato da gente che acchiappa antidepressivi come fossero caramelle, molti di loro per problemi personali o familiari ma esiste una fetta ENORME di popolazione che si ammala per colpa del clima generale di incertezza e frustrazione...Al mattino apro i tabloid e mi viene l'ansia.
Abbiamo un governo di criminali, ladri, mafiosi e assassini che ha appena approvato una manovra economica SUICIDA (e sudicia) dove ci sono solo TAGLI e nessun tentativo di rilancio dell'economia, della cultura, dello sviluppo, dell'innovazione...
Non a caso è una manovra che stanno bocciando TUTTI, in Italia e all'estero.
Il presidente del Consiglio che non dice più una parola perché ha capito che stanno cercando di farlo fuori i suoi stessi alleati...siamo una nazione senza futuro, senza idee, senza progetti, senza un cazzo di niente e questo è TREMENDO!!!
Chi ha un lavoro fisso come me (per quanto ancora?) se lo tiene stretto, ma a queste condizioni è ovvio che i padroncini di lavoro se ne approfittano in ogni modo per spremere ancor più i lavoratori spendendo il meno possibile.

Dove si può andare ad agire?
COME si può essere incisivi in un monnezzaio come questo?

- Se utilizzi il voto come arma di cambiamento, non serve a un cazzo. Si fanno eleggere e poi una volta eletti decidono loro chi mettere nelle relative poltrone e cosa fare di conseguenza (fondamentalmente, una gran padellata di cazzi propri);
- se provi con delle proteste pacifiche, nella migliore delle ipotesi non ti ascolta nessuno, e nella peggiore, ti caricano e ti riempiono di botte. Magari ci scappa il morto, tanto a smontare le proteste ci penserà poi la stampa di regime;
- se provi a spaccare tutto, visto che è LECITO spaccare tutto perché se non distruggi non ricostruisci, ti mettono in galera e buttano la chiave.

Esiste una via d'uscita?
Io non sono capace di fare analisi politiche raffinate, non sono un politico, un filosofo, uno storico, un cazzo di sociologo ma so bene che intorno a noi c'è un clima di merda, c'è tensione, rabbia, angoscia, frustrazione...chi ha il potere ne abusa ogni giorno che passa sempre più. Che si tratti del posto di lavoro, dello sbirro per strada, del controllore sull'autobus, c'è disagio diocane!!!

Altra questione che non c'entra un cazzo ma che mi viene così, random.
Un paese di vecchi non potrà mai portare innovazione.
A Salsomaggiore dopo anni di centrosinistra è stata votata una coalizione di centrodestra con Lega, Pdl e la Destra di Storace (porcodio la banda bassotti in confronto era una gang di damerini).
Il nuovo sindaco, tale Carancini, ha 70 ANNI, ed è stato votato per PORTARE UNA VENTATA DI CAMBIAMENTO A SALSOMAGGIORE TERME.
Un vecchio che cazzo vuoi che si aspetti dalla vita?
Che non gli tocchino la pensione e che possa godersi il meritato riposo dopo una dura vita di lavoro.
Di certo non avrà a cuore le tematiche giovanili, non gli fregherà un cazzo di innovare, di investire sul futuro DATO CHE NON AVRA' UN FUTURO!!!

BODHUM - "extremo" thrash/grindcore from Brazil

I love coming back home almost drunk and sitting in front of my computer for some new stuff to review...

I have to say sorry to Pellizzetti & co. in Bodhum because they wrote me a couple of months ago sending their material for a review...but tonight I finally had the time to listen to their album and hey! It rips!!!

BODHUM, as the bio says...
"after 12 years of hibernation reformed to record "EXTREMO" which symbolizes all the rage and revolt of being human".
They play a very good mix of thrash, crust punk and grindcore to my ears.
Personally, I would have dirtied the end results more and more, but anyway this is a good listen. Metallic crust punk thrash with hints of grindcore here and there.
Songs are between half a second and two minutes, this is some good shit from Brazil so don't waste your time and download it!

Makes me think of Lobotomia or Forca Macabra (which, by the way, are from Finland and NOT from Brazil) or some Ratos de Porao mid period.

I WANNA BE A COMPILATION

JOHN mi ha chiesto di fargli una compilation su cd.
Io gliel'ho fatta, seguendo come unico criterio quello di alternare un gruppo degli anni '80 ad un gruppo che fosse odierno o comunque tuttora attivo. è venuta fuori 'sta roba qua.

Di solito faccio compilazie su cassetta, però visto che il soggetto è l'unico ad ascoltare quasi solo i Ramones e contemporaneamente a non avere più una piastra per cassette (quella per capelli lasciamo perdere, sarebbe come sparare sulla Croce Rossa) mi sono adattato alla condizione del suo disagio.

C'è dentro di tutto...ho pensato allo skate, al thrash, al punk, c'è anche un brano strumentale (il primo) e ci sono i cloni dei cloni, ma mi pare sia venuta fuori divertente.

ciao mi chiamo bond...mori bond!
Beh sono malato da qualche giorno ma questo non mi ha impedito di essere presente al WAKE UP SALSO!!!
Ero li piegato in un angolo al sole a vendere birra dalle due di pomeriggio.Prima ai giovani skaters e poi ai punk rockers.
ok...dal inizio. Cos'è il wake up salso??? E' un festival organizzato a salso da Pulce (you suck, death before work, zio faster e wham) che porta a salso quella mentalità giovane e vogliosa di "fare".
Il "festival" si è svolto in parco (mal ridotto) su una pista di pattinaggio abbandonata ed era aperta a tutti. C'erano bambini che avevano 10 o 11 anni che skateavano sulle strutture portate su appositamente (e gentilmente prestateci dallo skateshop freelife) c'erano bambini metallari mai visti ai concerti della zona, c'erano ragazzi punk rock, c'era quel nonno di luca frazzi, c'erano passanti curiosi e c'era perfino Nasi!!!!
Veniamo ai gruppi;
Lamantide (l'amantide?? L'amante di???)....boh si sono definiti metal core e per me questo è cinese. Per il metal è metal e nel metal si urla. L'amantide urla. L'amantide urla tanto. Sono una capra ma so che la gente si è divertita!!!
Speed dragons... li avevo gia visti al taun e mi avevano schifato (credo fosse colpa mia) stavolta invece mi hanno divertito un sacco. Spassosi, stupidi e sfigati = punk rock. loro allora sono molto punk rock! Ottimi.
Squid omelette (omlet, omelet, outlet aaaargh)...buhahahaahhahhha devo proprio scrivere quello che penso??? Beh mi sono un sacco divertito. Peccato per la mia voce che è andata a fottersi dopo 2 secondi. Zanna in custume (ino ino ino) da spiaggia inguradabile. Boss con il robo da sub idiotico. Fabio vestito da sbronzo...travestimento perfetto! Momento migliore la mia bimba dietro il palco che si atteggia punk rock!!!
You suck a parte il fatto che li chiamo sempre "suck this" (e gia in queste righe mi sono dovuto correggere un paio di volte) per colpa di troppi anni di queers HANNO SPAZZATO VIA TUTTI! Hc vecchia scuola con un tiro pazzesco. Bravissimi. Un concerto perfetto con il bonus di un bimbo pazzo che pogava e saltava addosso a tutti!!! Poi sono anche delle gran belle persone. Super fighi!
In fine tanti hanno dato una mano a pulce e la lucy (la nostra infermiera preferita)a pulire lo spazio! grazie di cuore e speriamo che non finisca qui.

dimenticavo di scrivere che la cosa più bella di quella giornata è stato vedere l'entusiasmo di coloro che hanno aprtecipato...bambini, ragazzetti, giovani e meno giovani tutti presi bene che a salso ci fosse qualcosa di DIVERSO.

IL wake up salso è andato bene.

Salsomaggiore sembrava una piccola Milano Marittima con tanti skaters più o meno maggiorenni, mamme coi bambini, punx, punx anziani (Frazzi e John), donne in carrozzella (mia moglie) e gruppi punx e metal che hanno allietato le nostre orecchie.

Gli sbirri si sono fatti vedere ma più che altro erano nervosamente incazzati di non poter dirci assolutamente nulla dato che, per una volta nella vita, avevo(amo) tutte le carte in regola.

Quando a Maggio mi presentai in Comune per chiedere le autorizzazioni per fare il concerto non nutrivo molte speranze di farcela...più che altro era la ridente popolazione (giovane) di Salso ad essere scettica che una città invecchiata e amministrata da anziani (come tutto il resto d'Italia d'altronde) potesse accettare di farmi fare una cosa del genere...e sinceramente anche io non avevo ben chiaro come mettere giù la cosa.
A Milano era più semplice, non si chiedevano permessi si arrivava in fretta e furia si montava e si cominciava a suonare; poi una volta arrivati gli sbirri si contrattava sul posto come e quanto rimanere lì...

Ovviamente in una smalltown boy come quella emiliana in cui vivo orora fare una cosa del genere senza permessi è IMPOSSIBILE, quindi armato di pazienza e buona volontà (oh boy!) mi sono proposto con l'obbiettivo di CREARE UN PRECEDENTE...e così è stato.

Ho avuto a che fare con l'assessora alla cultura M.P.Bersellini che è stata molto disponibile (più che altro non capiva come un singolo privato cittadino senza un'organizzazione dietro richiedesse l' utilizzo del suolo pubblico senza chiedere in aggiunta una lira!) e dopo un primo colloquio dove mi sono presentato vestito da becchino/cameriere di classe (vedi foto) l'ho convinta della necessità di riBACKARE ON THE MAP la nostra amata Salso con del sano rock e dello skateboarding, visto che la situazione è disastrosa ma c'è un sacco di humus e di fermento culturale.

QUALCOSA SI STA MUOVENDO...nonostante la vittoria della destra a Salso (controtendenza rispetto al resto d'Italia...sarà che porto sfiga ai posti in cui mi trovo) c'è un movimento di persone, regaz, artisti, operai, ragazzi come tu e me
che non ne possono più di vivere una città che pensa (poco e male) al turismo e per nulla a chi la città la vive 365 giorni l'anno. DECADENZA!

Introducing you FRONTSIDE from Munchen (Germany).

The show at Kafe Marat was one of the best of the whole tour.

It was on May the 1st, and it happened that all the people going back from a demo against gentrification went to the show. I have played in Berlin on Worker's Day in the past and people was way more into partying all the night in the streets than attending a punk rock show.

But this time was different!

Frontside was so kind to us! We all slept in his apartment.

A real skater/tattooist, someone who is in it for life.

He made some vegan breakfast (fake meat for hamburgers) and shown us his diy skate videos. We all went to sleep dead drunk very late that night, including him, but he was the first to wake up the next morning anyway.

He slept in a ski suit because his bed was already taken by other guests...So stop yourself thinking to anything else for a minute. You wake up still drunk in the morning and the first thing you see is a german crazy man jumping all around the room in a ski suit...and we're on fuckin' May, not January!

This piece of majestic 7th art was shot in the backstage of the Kafe Marat. We were partying hard with our pals Sick Times and some local heroes, including Frontside...enjoy!

Quando vado a correre la schizofrenia dilaga. Posso passare 45 minuti solo con i BEASTIE BOYS o con i DARKTHRONE
per poi tornare a casa e metter su Neneh Cherry o Grace Jones...
Di certo c'è che sto ascoltando meno metal rispetto al solito, gli Slayer rimangono sempre degli dèi sulla Terra e a breve uscirà un nuovo Cannibal Corpse.

Durante il tour europeo ho sperato tanto di suonare con altre band per poter ascoltare roba nuova, invece nella maggior parte dei concerti eravamo solo YOU SUCK! & SICK TIMES!
E' stata la prima volta in vita mia che son tornato a casa con 1 solo disco...indovinate di chi?

Ultimamente non ho scritto nulla su questo blog. Ho sempre in mente un sacco di cose da scrivere ma quando mi siedo di fronte al portatile mi blocco, col pensiero fisso che a nessuno possa fregare di quello che scrivo. In realtà non scrivo per qualcuno, ma semplicemente perché mi piace scrivere. Quando andavo a scuola le materie preferite erano quelle umanistiche: italiano, storia, geografia, educazione civica...o almeno, lo sono diventate quando mi è venuta voglia di studiare. Sono stato una capra per un sacco di tempo, non avevo voglia di fare un cazzo se non pagliacciare e divertirmi.

Qual è il punto dell'andare a scuola? Fare contenti gli insegnanti, i genitori? Prendere bei voti? Divertirsi? Imparare qualcosa? Mi chiedo quante persone possano affermare con sicurezza di avere imparato a stare al mondo dentro quelle maledette quattro mura. Dio solo sa quanto ho odiato la scuola.

Ho riletto per l'ennesima volta GET IN THE VAN di Henry Rollins, ovvero la raccolta dei diari scritti tra il 1981 ed il 1986, nell'arco di tempo in cui ha fatto parte dei Black Flag.
Se non l'avete mai fatto, leggetelo.
Un sacco di gente schifa Rollins, dicono di lui che è un pallone gonfiato, un macho troppo pieno di sè. Rollins ha un sacco di attitudine che la metà dei punk in giro per il mondo se la sogna.
Mi è venuto in mente qualche sera fa che il buon Enrico Rollini ha compiuto quest'anno 50 primavere.
Cazzo.
Il mio musicista e scrittore (e attore...e performer...) preferito ha svoltato la boa dei 50.

Doner, il vecchio bassista dei Death Before Work! mi chiama scherzosamente "l' Enrico Rollini della Bassa" per via dell'influenza che quel libro ha avuto sulla mia vita.
Aldilà delle frequenti invettive di Rollins contro tutto e tutti, mi ha colpito la determinazione, l'attitudine e la disciplina di quell'uomo. Oltre ovviamente alla furia animalesca durante le esibizioni dal vivo. Ho avuto modo di verificare dal vivo la sua carica mi pare nel 1995 o 1996 ad un festival a Milano. Probabile che si chiamasse Sonhora o Sonoria sa il cazzo chi se lo ricorda più. Oltre a lui c'erano i Biohazard, i Cure ed un sacco di altre band più o meno degne di nota.
Tutto questo pippone per dire che?
Che sono da poco tornato dal tour con i YOU SUCK! ed è stata una delle più belle esperienze della mia vita. Andare in tour è come bere acqua fresca dopo che hai corso sotto il sole per kilometri e kilometri.
E' aria pura dopo ore sotto una miniera.
E' incredibile come ci si possa alienare da tutto quando sei in tour: mi dimentico persino di essere italiano.

Ogni giorno sei in un posto diverso, ogni giorno incontri persone nuove, stringi nuove relazioni, lasci qualcosa di te in posti molto lontani. Se non fosse stato per un gruppo come i Black Flag oggi questo privilegio non ce lo potremmo permettere. Una volta il punk era davvero una minaccia: ai concerti succedevano sempre casini, potevano arrivare gli sbirri e spaccare il cranio ai presenti.
L'idea di prendere un furgone, caricarlo di strumenti, salirci e fare il giro degli Stati Uniti o dell'Europa dopo mesi di lettere manoscritte e telefonate con gente spesso pischelli come te era impensabile solo 35 anni fa. E non pensate che sia tanto solo perché ne avete 16. Il mondo è nato un po' prima del vostro arrivo...

Oggi come oggi è molto difficile che questo accada, anche perché l'abitudine è diventata talmente consolidata che il punk ha i suoi posti, il suo pubblico, centinaia di sottogeneri e sottocorrenti e non rappresenta più una reale minaccia per la società. Oggi le uniche minacce ai concerti possono venire dai nazi, ma la cosa si fa sempre più rara e - anzi, obbrobrio! - in alcuni contesti i nazi vengono ai concerti senza alcun problema e addirittura tollerati .
(più avanti tornerò sull'argomento).

Che tutto questo sia meglio o peggio, non sta a me dirlo.

Non mi metto di certo a romanzare malinconico su come fossero fighi i concerti quando avevo 16 anni, anche perché comunque si parla già di anni '90 (essendo del 1977 difficilmente potevo andare ai concerti nell'82, right?).

Eppoi sinceramente quelli che la menano tanto con "quanto eravamo più felici allora" mi fanno cascare le palle. Sono molto contento di quello che sono adesso e di quello che faccio con le persone che mi circondano ADESSO, il che non significa che quello che ho fatto 15/20 anni fa sia da buttare.
Anzi.
Rimane però nel passato, e a me interessa il qui ed ora.
Se non altro il punk mi ha insegnato che non vale la pena stare a farsi troppe seghe mentali su quello che è stato e quello che sarà, ma che tra 1 secondo potresti essere già morto e che di conseguenza devi dare il massimo nell'istante.
Ecco perché sono una persona ansiosa.
Vivo nel terrore di annoiarmi. Stare con le mani in mano mi fa incazzare come una bestia.
Esistono dei momenti di "scesa", di depressione... potremmo dire depressione sì, anche se non è l'espressione più corretta, in cui faccio fatica a fare qualcosa...però per fortuna durano poco.
Ho sempre pensato alla mia morte come ad un infarto o qualcosa di simile: più velocemente il caffè pompa nelle vene prima lo squarcio nel cuore arriverà a compiere il suo dovere.

Non ho mai amato la vita così tanto come in questo periodo.

Negli ultimi mesi ho un po' lasciato da parte il fastcore/powerviolence vero e proprio. Rispetto ad una volta (ooohps! ecco che ci casco anche io nel tranello del "come eravamo...") escono troppi dischi.
Come cazzo faccio a stare dietro a tutto?
L'altra faccia del problema è che molta della roba che esce è mediocre a dir poco.
Su Short,Fast&Loud Jeff Robinson ha coniato il termine "generic thrash". Sono completamente d'accordo. Quei dischi che sì, non sono male, ma ne esistono altri 8347564564 prima e dopo e durante quello stesso disco.
Che senso ha? Non ne ho idea, non penso esista una risposta.
Il diffondersi dei mezzi di registrazione casalinga hanno portato il concetto di do it yourself su di un altro livello. Sono molto felice che chiunque possa registrare la propria musica nella propria casa. Sono anche convinto del fatto che non tutti dovrebbero per forza di cose mettersi a suonare in un gruppo.
Ricordo una vecchia intervista agli Annihilation Time in cui il chitarrista/fondatore Graham ricordava che molta gente si mette a suonare più per "altro" (stare con gli amici, parlare di politica, scopare, andare in tour, bere birra gratis) che non per la questione fondamentale del fondare una band:suonare, con tutto ciò che questo comporta (avere un minimo di padronanza tecnica e soprattutto cercare di migliorarsi col tempo).
Gli Annihilation Time sono stati uno dei gruppi più fighi che abbia avuto modo di vedere e di ascoltare negli anni 00. Pura bomba rock/punk. Aldilà di certi testi da redneck represso che ha scoperto il punk dopo aver masticato per anni Bruce Springsteen, musicalmente sono stati una cosa allucinante. Partiti come cloni dei Bl'ast (che a loro volta erano cloni dei Black Flag) hanno sviluppato un suono proprio (non scevro comunque da influenze come ad esempio i Fu Manchu) che ha visto il suo apice nel capolavoro "II"
Forse non dovrei essere io a scrivere queste cose come esempio, dato che non sono un cantante (ma strillo in due band) nè tantomeno un batterista (ma percuoto pelli in una terza band).
Non riesco nemmeno a fare i paradiddle...che per il concetto del "punk" ci sta.
Hai voglia? Fallo.
Da qui a dire "hai voglia? fallo, e anche con cognizione di causa" però ce ne passa, e assai.

So, my new band is finally leaving for a 10 days tour in Europe. We have recorded a tape with all our previous releases re-recorded with the new lineup (me on vocals and Luca on guitar). Our band is complete only with Bestia on second guitar, but he will not take part on the tour due to work commitments...this means that only PULCE - vocals, CHARLIE - bass, COCU - drums and LUCA OVNZI - guitar will be thrashin' your town.
As you can read, we will not be alone. SICK TIMES from Germany will be touring with us.
We already did some shows together in the past - even if I was not part of the band at the time - and we know this is gonna be sick.
I am very excited about all these things movin' on for the band. We have also printed new t-shirts designed specifically for the occasion.

Genuine speed thrash metal, very grezzo e con le chitarre a mulinello che rasentano il black metal in alcuni punti. Registrazione bella scassona direi perfetta per un demo! L'unica cosa che modificherei un pelino sono gli arrangiamenti, a volte le varie parti sembrano attaccate un po' alla cazzo di cane col bostik.

I still know nothing about which places they will be hitting, or who is booking their shows, but I think a big part of this has to do with Guillome and his Crew For Life Europe (located in France).
Last time they played in Milano with us, Death Before Work!, but the biggest fun was at the "crusties meets thrashers" fest in Modena @ La Scintilla squat.

Well, they have recorded new tracks, including this one that is from their upcoming split (cd? LP? 7 inch?) with

LIGHT UP!

Both bands are searching coproducers to release their scheisse, write them!

Last time i saw Crop Circles playing was at 2010's FASTFEST in Ravenna, and they floored everybody with their unique brand of tight fast hardcore with blastbeats throw in here and there plus hints of old school youth crew (Youth of Today NOT Bane)

Who-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
I have been thinking about this blog A LOT since last time I've posted something. So many people have asked me to review their new material, but I have been lazy and/or too busy in working on something new.
Now I am back!

This is my homage to Herbie Hancock and his wonderful grooovy music.
Lately, I have been listening to tons of old funk/jazz/old skool hip hop records and I have thought a lot about the word "groove".
The first time I was introduced into that word it was thru metal.
"Groove metal".
Does groove metal has any sense?

No it hasn't.

I don't need to listen to bad heavy metal to find some groove in good music, I have to go back to the roots of the black, powerful sound that started everything.
I suggest the younger kids listening to crappy mallcore to go back to the roots.
20 years ago could have been a lil' more uneasy doing that; internet was not an option and even cd's were far away to be widespread.

TAPES.

Everything was running from ghettoblaster to ghettoblaster through tapes.
You couldn't afford 20 Lp's every week, so you were lucky if your friend had that certain record in his dad's collection...
Today everything is easier. It's an old issue, and I am not one of those old farts crying about the good old times. I definitively prefer the way things work today; everything is accessible and you have no limits of getting a wider knowledge thru the web.

For example, I have started my personal trip into the world of old hip hop while checking some books on the net, and crushing into this one:

So I have been checking it's website, writing down some names, downloading their records and after that i have bought a copy of the book.
I am downloading tons of bands everyday, and those who i assume deserves my respect (ahah!) I try to buy their vinyls.

Anyway, I am still using tapes, collecting them, buying them and recording them.
My dad just gave me a stock of old C-64 tapes, still enveloped, and with my great pleasure they are fantastic when it comes to record over them!!!

Ecco.
Quando ero più giovane, senza un soldo e da poco felicemente convivente, ero solito scroccare la connessione internet un po da una parte ed un po dall'altra.
Ricordo che spendevo 2 euro di connessione al giorno in un internet point gestito da arabi, e giravo tutti i siti di gruppi death/thrash/grind/fast/powerviolence possibili ed immaginabili, scaricando le tracce free messe a disposizione dal gruppo stesso.
Sovente, capitava nella fretta dello scaricaggio selvaggio di mettere su cd anche tracce con fade in/fade out, ovvero dei sampler di brani assai più lunghi.
I metallari hanno il vizio di fare questa cosa; "per preservare il diritto di autore su questo mio incredibile brano, te ne faccio sentire/scaricare solo una parte".
Bah.
Ognimodo, qualche anno fa mi son strippato a cercare gruppi braziliani su myspace; piano piano ne accumulai un numero considerevole, e decisi quindi di farmi una bella compilazia in cd (dopo tanti anni di comp. tapes - cassette che comunque mi strippo a fare ancora).

38 brani per 13 gruppi; non ho mai avuto modo di segnare i titoli di tutti i pezzi.
Potete sempre andare a cercare sul myspace relativo al gruppo e tirarvi giù quanto abbisognate direttamente dal gruppo stesso.

Musicalmente si passa dal fast hardcore, al thrash metal al crossoverone (POSSUIDO PELO CAO su tutti)

Interview with WILL from TO LIVE A LIE records

TO LIVE A LIE records is a cool label focused on very rough sounding bands.
Fastcore, powerviolence, grindcore is the noize we love to hear and the noize Will loves to spread! I have discovered his label through my favorite band XBRAINIAX (check out interview elsewhere on this site), and after i have started buying records from this label a world has opened in front of me! Bands like DEAD RADICAL (-WRONG! DxRx NEVER RELEASED ANYTHING ON TLAL - SORRY READERS AND MOSTLY, SORRY WILL!/pulce-) , HUMMINGBIRD OF DEATH, ARCHAGATHUS, FINAL DRAFT, BLOODY PHOENIX are just few examples of bands that worked with the label. I have had a small conversation thru the web with Will, the mind behind this project. Enjoy!

1- Hi Wiil: write us a brief history of To Live A Lie records: who you are, when you started this project, where are you from...?

Well my name is Will, I guess that is obvious already, I hail from the USA and I live in the south down in North Carolina. I guess my main contribution to the DIY scene is through my label so that is who I am as far as most things are concerned, just a guy who really loves music and wants to have a hand in it. The formation of TLAL started with my friends Rick and Dub (both in Shitstorm and Ricky plays in Torche) asking me to do a Magrudergrind record. I had originally been talking to those two brothers to put out their old band's record and that is how they knew I'd be interested. They ended up not being able to do the record and I split released it with Jorge from Nuclear BBQ Party. That record came out in 2005 and started out with me not knowing what I was doing but I was really driven to do something positive with it. Did a lot of trading, hyped a lot on the Internet, and was pretty proactive. So to fastforward time, I kept putting out releases... mainly split releases with other labels for a good long time. I've been focusing more on doing more releases only on my label as of late.

2 - Why TO LIVE A LIE? It sounds like a line from a grindcore album...Phobia maybe?

The name comes from something I thought it up as a kid. It is actually pretty lame sounding but I had it as an AIM screenname when I was probably thirteen or so. Around the age of seventeen I started booking shows and used instant messenger a lot to get stuff worked out. Really its just a name that I felt represented me, so why rip something from someone else if you have something that means something to you personally? The band In Disgust did write a song with the same name, but that was after the label had started.

3- Who have you been inspired by?

I have a really good circle of dudes I talk to about music. It is really inspiring to watch the big DIY labels do their thing, I think labels like Six Weeks, RSR, Deep Six, Bones Brigade, and quite a few others are doing an amazing job. I'm more inspired however by the people I have direct contact with and will talk to me and get stoked on music and releases with me. Will Toftness who used to be in Hip Cops and runs a label called BSP Propaganda is a great inspiration. Also Ralph from Haunted Hotel and I recently started talking more to Pat from Backslide who does Blastcat Records. Ira who plays in a few local bands and my roommates get me amped on music. It is all about ethics and positivity, gets me excited!

4 - What was the first record you released?

Godstomper/Magrudergrind split. We did like 1k of those things. After that I put out the Rhino Charge 7" which wasn't a split release and did 1k of those too. Had a lot of luck at the begining of my label.

5 - What was the best record done 'til now?

You can't put me on the spot like that! I have an affinity towards everything I've put out (that is the diplomatic thing to say right?). I look back and I've put in a lot of work into everything and each release is totally worth it. I think this new Sex Prisoner EP is astounding as far as new stuff to be stoked on. The Magnum Force EP will be killer too.

6 - A band you dream to have on your label?

I'm working with one right one for TLAL45! I'm working with Assholeparade. Always loved them, feeds my love for hardcore mixed with that abrassive fast powerviolence. Hmm... who else would I like to work with? I could make an exquisite list of some off the top of my head,, Low Threat Profile, Despise You, Looking for an Answer, Bathtub Shitter... man and I had this crazy idea the other day and I actually shot a few emails with the group, it'd be awesome to do a split record with a band that I deal with that is animal rights oriented and the vegan hiphop group Dead Prez. Think they might have gotten scared off when they actually looked at my label but I think that would be the coolest thing ever.

7 - In my little world, the only known band from Raleigh is C.O.C.

Do you know they are just back with the "Animosity" line up?

What do you think of them...and please tell us about more bands/venues from your area!

COC was rad the other day when I saw them, I have pictures from it even. The show was a little mellow as far as the crowd was cocerned which was slightly disappointing . I'm surprised you didn't namedrop Double Negative too... those dudes are/have been blowing up. Let me do a fastcore speed list of bands and what they are about... Devour - heavy, spastic, and non-repetative, Thieves - angry fast fast hardcore, Stripmines - Siege/Heresy worshiping pissed hardcore, Old Painless - super new techish grind band, Burma - young kids, new band, think Converge mixed with powerviolence, No Tomorrow - crust from two hours away at the beach.

8 - Are you making a living off the label?

If so, has it been hard to reach that level?

And if you aren't, what is your daily job?

Is it hard to have a daily life and running a label?

Oh hell no. I'm probably losing money on the label... I mean I was selling $3 7"s for a long time, now I hardly charge much more. Larger labels get a huge break by pressing a ton of records and then turn around and sell a 7"s for $6 or an LP for $15. That is what it takes to reach that level. I do IT (computers) for the state of North Carolina for a day job. I have figured out a decently good way to balance life and the label.. I limit the amount of time I work on it. One day a week is a record packing day, maybe one on the weekend, and one shipping day. I try to work on label stuff during my day job as much as I can. TLAL is a labor of love, I have no kids and no pet.. this is where my time goes.

Got this one last time I went to Berlin for holidays.(again!)

I went to a show with Encroached playing; other bands were Burial and Love Potion.

I knew nothing about them, but when i heard "they're japanese" i got excited.

Initially, I was thinking to some dis-clone band, instead they play great hardcore thrash in the vein of Crucial Section.
This compilation (released by CREW FOR LIFE records, Crucial Section's label) includes bands already known by the lil' and lovely person I am like Think Brigade or Ada+Max, but It helped me in discovering new combos like Circle Flex or Bad Dirty Hate.

German people attending hc shows are boring, anyway.

C'mon let's go back as in the good old days!

I have been pretty depressed in the last 2 months.

It seems that i have had Saturn working against me.

I have never cared about horoscopes or strange, weird stuff like that, but my wife yesterday read me a couple of them who were written 6 months ago, and they were a loyal picture of what i have been through in recent times; and i actually have started thinking about it.

I mean, if the moon has an influence on the sea, why all the planets/satellites shouldn't have a certain influence on our lives?

I don't think it's something "magic", since i don't believe in anything except the REALITY, but i am going to read some books about this topic soon or later.

Anyway.

This time i am posting a split 7 inch bought on a recent trip to Berlin (again...) and the 2 bands simply DESTROY everything!

INTERARMA hasn't, but they share members with another half dozen of bands.

Both are from Richmond, VIRGINIA, of course.

I have never seen any of them playing live - i really HAVE TO move for a US trip to catch them sweating hard on a stage - but I met Andy from both Battlemaster and Cannabis Corpse when CC played in Italy last February, and he seemed a fuckin' cool guy to hang out with!

I SEEIN' RED sono uno storico gruppo olandese attivo fin dai primi anni '80 come LARM (i tre membri attuali più un cantante attualmente non più in attività con loro).

Cazzo i LARM, un gruppo straight edge COMUNISTA che in quegli anni faceva comunella con gli inglesi HERESY...ma lasciamo stare, altre storie.

Assieme a loro gli EXTORTION, tra le nuove leve della scuola ultracore che tanto deve agli Infest quanto a certo thrash crossover di metà anni '80.

Yeah you' ve read it right!!!

DEATH BEFORE WORK! will enter the studio next October to release their second full lenght, which probably will be called "WELCOME TO ITALY...THE LAND OF NO FUN".

We got between 15 and 20 tracks ready, and we can't wait to put them on vinyl!

The last 2 years have been very chaotic for our band. I have moved in another city and our bass player Doner moved in a different country, so things have been reeeeeaaally sloooooooow.

Actually, we don't even have a regular bass player; in fact, Tadzio is helping us on live duties, but he won't take part to the recording process.

Why am i explaining all the same old story for the 10000th time?

Well, this recording could be the last one for us.

We are growing up ("...moving away", quoting Society of Friends) and the whole socio/economical and political situation in Italy is getting worse day by day.

We are the new generation of people with no future, and even if this could sound exciting to your ears - remember we are not in 1977 anymore - for us this means only one thing: no job, no money, no records, just moving away to better living conditions.

Italy is no fun.

This record will be financied by my new label, THRASHMANIAC RECORDS.

It could be the last good effort for this band, and i (we) want it to be the best thing ever made by us, as a band.

That's it.

Meanwhile, i have started to trade copies of DEATH BEFORE WORK'S earlier material with foreigner labels (To Live A Lie, Unholy Thrash, Crew For Life...) to start a new distribution and to spread our music as far as possible.

Usually I don't like to post links of records that i don't physically own (no jokes please! - i don't put my penis into the glory-vinyl-hole).

Anyway, this time i have to do that, simply because this one literally smokes and you all must listen it!

A new ep by WEEKEND NACHOS, only two songs that follow the new line taken with the previous lp Unforgivable. Sludgy, muddy, crusty, mitbish addicted powerviolence...but at this point, i don't even know if we can still call it powerviolence.

They will be in Europe next Autumn. Don't miss them.

Finally a new recording for BxNx with a drummer, this time is not the old MITB one but a guy who seems have also played in Intronaut und Phobia.

Sounds awesome, brootal and uncompromising as their early 90's stuff for which they are known.

I can easily compare this Lp with another classic in hardcore violence, the mighty split MITB/CAPITALIST CASUALTIES...

The Blockade side consists of a one looong track made by different parts, riffs, tempo changes; and definitively, this is their first recording that is not boring.

Great split, and a great come back for BN with Wood playing his bass guitar and "singing".

Shivers thru my spine!

Our aim was to play fast Thrash/Power Violence influenced by such bands as Spazz,Weekend Nachos,Charlies Bronson,Uzi Suicide. We have a 3" Cd (Sold Out) & Tape split (SOLD OUT) out on ZX Tapes & Derry Air Rec. We also had a Digital Xmas Release out on Zinerecords and 2 diffrent comps out on He Of The House Media & Meziprostor Records. We are also going back into the studio very soon to record new tracks and are looking to have 7" discography out later this year

Well, do they achieve what they try to?

Power violence is a very though territory, is not that easy to reach the goal of playing very good hyperfast'n'tight music without sounding derivative and just a copycat...but hey! This band can play music that has some meaning!

I can hear influences of both Agents of Satan and Spazz (and sometimes even Weekend Nachos, maybe because of their fat sound), but luckily enough this band can add some hardcorethrash that make things sound different.

Good job!

The demo they sent me thru email is a 5 tracks one, you can listen to their scheisse on their MYSPACE...no lyrics, and I'm sad because i can only imagine what titles like "Fuck you dad, give me money" or "False hc creates rapists" talk about.

RUNTIME TERROR is a 4 piece band from Wien (Osterreich, for you not-european-lovers). They have sent me in this cassette demo tape, old school style, which i really appreciate.What we got here is 4 tracks of lo-fi hardcorethrash very noisy and chaotic. Not huge comparisons come to my mind, except maybe for some ARTYMUS PILE in the vocals. The only small problem with this band is the drum work, because i can't really stand that basic and sloppy "fake-hc" beat (one pedal hit every 2 snare hits), but anyway i've heard way woooorse drumming.
Some very good moshing breakdowns here and there complete the opera.
Lyrically, there are critics to the system (medias, religion) with a very personal perspective. I really enjoyed them!
