SHORT FAST & LOUD anniversary compilaton (10 inch)

My favourite song on this one is the CONQUEST FOR DEATH one, "short FAT & loud" because of the lyrical content:

"who are you to say i shouldn't take my shirt off in front of a crowd?

when it's a known fact i like my music short, fat & loud...
you'll never call someone a "fag" but you slag them off for being "fat"
enlightened to everything but sizeism...fuck that!
this is the hardcore scene not the pages of a fashion magazine
can't you accept people come in all different sizes
after all you've accepted everyone elses identities...short, fat and loud!"

and besides that, it's a whole good compilation.

Short, Fast & Loud is a twelve years old fanzine about rough music; initially published by Chris Dodge (Slap A Ham records, Stikky, Spazz, even earlier incarnation of No Use For A Name) it is actually run by Jeff & Athena (Six Weeks Records).
Tracklist stolen from another blog:

Short, Fast & Loud # 24 - ten year Anniversary issue w/ 10” compilation vinyl and zine, rippers from Larm, Coke Bust, Voetsek, Lack Of Interest, Seein Red, Brutal Truth, Extortion, Superbad, Noisear, Catheter, Enemies Of Inertia, Brodys Militia, Wasteoid, Pretty Little Flower, Slight Slappers, Street Pizza, Flagitious Idiosyncrasy In The Dilapidation, Conquest For Death, Torture Unit, Total Fucking Destruction, Gride {Czech} and Lahar {Czech} !!!

Enjoy.

+HIRS+ the first 100 songs LP version

Just discovered them on the May issue of Maximum Rocknroll.
It's a two men band, from West Philadelphia; vocals + guitars, electronic drums and effects.
They play a mix of grindcore, powerviolence and noisecore; they label themselves as a "fast queer band". The singer plays dressed as a woman, and one big issue for them is a "queer vs. cops" attitude; and definitively, i like it!

Finally, after a long search, i've found a new fast band that excites me so much.
I am looking forward to get this one on a physical format, 100 songs Lp is just incredible!

They got a song called "dimebag" that lasts 2:30 minutes where they glued together the best of Pantera tunes, and the end result is simply great.
Many many coversongs included, from Scholastic Deth to Jenny Piccolo   to Asterisk to Xbrainiax so you know this shit is real and fuckin' SMOOOOKES!

The fact they are using a drum machine it's not a big issue; their songs are precise, angry and aggressive but, mostly, varied. You never get the feel of boredom, on the contrary their lyrical and musical structures are genuinely diverse and imaginative.

I uploaded their record on mediafire, enjoy it.

POWERCUP (canada powerviolence/grindcore) interview

HEY SUCKERS!
I have got the pleasure to introduce you a new band - at least, they are new for me!
POWERCUP is a grind/powerviolence duo from Canada, and i have taken the chance to interview them since they will be touring Europe next July/August, teaming up with american bulldozer duo PIZZA HI FIVE; the first show is going to happen in Gaione (Parma) with my bands YOU SUCK! and the new one DRUG PROBLEMS as the opening acts.
Agipunk Records has been the link between them and us; hence the questions about.
Bob is a cool guy! He also run COFFEE GRINDER RECORDS
The band is full of humour and i can't wait to meet them in person.

This is (again) the show's flyer; at the end of this piece you'll find the whole tour list, with all the useful links. Don't miss them!

That's all with my bullshit, let the music floooooooow!

1- who you are, where are you from, releases and influences...other bands you like to thrash with?

we are POWERCUP from Montreal, Canada. We are 2piece grindfreaks and we talk about powertools and renovation! Locally we like to play with bands like SOIL OF IGNORANCE, VILE INTENT, SHATTER IT ALL, WRONG HANDS and some other bands. Theres not alot of grind and powerviolence in this city. But when we toured the USA we like to play with MISANTHROPIC NOISE, PIZZA HI-FIVE, LT. DAN, AGITATE,..too many bands to name them all haha.

2- what are your songs dealing with?

Our songs deal with renovation and powertools. We also talk about the importance of eating when doing renovations...AND SKATEBOARDING. Serial renovators too are part of the deal.

3 what about coffee grinder records...do you earn a lot of money from that?

If earn money with the label? Fuck no haha. I wish i did though. Its a very recent label i only have like 3 releases out at the moment. I was trying to put out the Hard Charger discography tape before their tour and the Misanthropic Noise flexi, but the pressing plants having been slacking at getting back to me, wich sucks.

4 how you got in contact with Mila Agipunk?

I know a couple of my friends had dealt with him before and they told me he was really nice to work with. My friend Ville from the band Perikato (FUCKING AWESOME BAND FROM FINLAND!!!) told he drove them around last summer and that he was super nice and i think he also went on tour with After The Bombs a few years ago and Janick told me the same thing about him. So it took much to convince me to contact him haha.

5 what do you expect from this euro tour? and mainly, what do you expect from italy?

I expect a lot of blast beats, beers, records and more than anything else FUN! Ive never been to Italy before, but i heard the kids get crazy there, so i hope theres gonna be alot stage dives and kids MOSHING WITH THEIR SKATES....im also expecting delicious food and wine haha.

6 your favourite drinks

COFFEE! and beer and Kuemmerling. I also like water, but mostly coffee.

7 is there any hidden kind of music/musician nobody know you listen to and that you adore, but you can't reveal that you do because of the shame? tell us NOW

I dont really hide what i like from anyone. But I can only talk for my self here. I listen to a lot of Post-Rock, 90s emo and screamo stuff. AND 90s EURO DANCE haha. The only band im ashame of is Lt. Dan...bunch of pickle dicks.

8 what should we expect from your show?

BLAST BEATS, MORE THAN YOU COULD POSSIBLY HANDLE! PIZZA HI-FIVE IS GONNA GRIND YOUR FACE OFF AND WE ARE GONNA BE THERE TO RENOVATE IT!.

9 are you long time friends with Pizza Hi Five? explain

We met them on our first USA tour in 2010 i think? They had booked a show for us at their house (the Leathershop). The line up that night was pretty intense, it was us, them, Hooker Spit Windex (RIP), Total Hipster Crusher and Migthy Morphin Methheads (RIP). We became friends instantly, we even did a tour with them and Violent Gorge last summer, it was totally awesome and i cant wait to tour with them again!

10 that's all for now: ask us a question we didn't ask you

Who are you and why are you so dumb?

I just want to add one other thing. Thanks for the interview and if anyone who reads this is interested in getting any of my releases, or distro list or wants to put out something for POWERCUP you can get in touch

circolo arci MATONGE a Parma - un nuovo posto dove organizzare concerti! + SIDETRACKED/HUMMINGBIRD OF DEATH split 6"

Interview with WILL from TO LIVE A LIE records

TO LIVE A LIE records is a cool label focused on very rough sounding bands.
Fastcore, powerviolence, grindcore is the noize we love to hear and the noize Will loves to spread!
I have discovered his label through my favorite band XBRAINIAX (check out interview elsewhere on this site), and after i have started buying records from this label a world has opened in front of me! Bands like DEAD RADICAL (-WRONG! DxRx NEVER RELEASED ANYTHING ON TLAL - SORRY READERS AND MOSTLY, SORRY WILL!/pulce-) , HUMMINGBIRD OF DEATH, ARCHAGATHUS, FINAL DRAFT, BLOODY PHOENIX are just few examples of bands that worked with the label. I have had a small conversation thru the web with Will, the mind behind this project. Enjoy!

1- Hi Wiil: write us a brief history of To Live A Lie records: who you are, when you started this project, where are you from...?
Well my name is Will, I guess that is obvious already, I hail from the USA and I live in the south down in North Carolina. I guess my main contribution to the DIY scene is through my label so that is who I am as far as most things are concerned, just a guy who really loves music and wants to have a hand in it. The formation of TLAL started with my friends Rick and Dub (both in Shitstorm and Ricky plays in Torche) asking me to do a Magrudergrind record. I had originally been talking to those two brothers to put out their old band's record and that is how they knew I'd be interested. They ended up not being able to do the record and I split released it with Jorge from Nuclear BBQ Party. That record came out in 2005 and started out with me not knowing what I was doing but I was really driven to do something positive with it. Did a lot of trading, hyped a lot on the Internet, and was pretty proactive. So to fastforward time, I kept putting out releases... mainly split releases with other labels for a good long time. I've been focusing more on doing more releases only on my label as of late.

2 - Why TO LIVE A LIE? It sounds like a line from a grindcore album...Phobia maybe?
The name comes from something I thought it up as a kid. It is actually pretty lame sounding but I had it as an AIM screenname when I was probably thirteen or so. Around the age of seventeen I started booking shows and used instant messenger a lot to get stuff worked out. Really its just a name that I felt represented me, so why rip something from someone else if you have something that means something to you personally? The band In Disgust did write a song with the same name, but that was after the label had started.

3- Who have you been inspired by?
I have a really good circle of dudes I talk to about music. It is really inspiring to watch the big DIY labels do their thing, I think labels like Six Weeks, RSR, Deep Six, Bones Brigade, and quite a few others are doing an amazing job. I'm more inspired however by the people I have direct contact with and will talk to me and get stoked on music and releases with me. Will Toftness who used to be in Hip Cops and runs a label called BSP Propaganda is a great inspiration. Also Ralph from Haunted Hotel and I recently started talking more to Pat from Backslide who does Blastcat Records. Ira who plays in a few local bands and my roommates get me amped on music. It is all about ethics and positivity, gets me excited!

4 - What was the first record you released?
Godstomper/Magrudergrind split. We did like 1k of those things. After that I put out the Rhino Charge 7" which wasn't a split release and did 1k of those too. Had a lot of luck at the begining of my label.

5 - What was the best record done 'til now?
You can't put me on the spot like that! I have an affinity towards everything I've put out (that is the diplomatic thing to say right?). I look back and I've put in a lot of work into everything and each release is totally worth it. I think this new Sex Prisoner EP is astounding as far as new stuff to be stoked on. The Magnum Force EP will be killer too.

6 - A band you dream to have on your label?
I'm working with one right one for TLAL45! I'm working with Assholeparade. Always loved them, feeds my love for hardcore mixed with that abrassive fast powerviolence. Hmm... who else would I like to work with? I could make an exquisite list of some off the top of my head,, Low Threat Profile, Despise You, Looking for an Answer, Bathtub Shitter... man and I had this crazy idea the other day and I actually shot a few emails with the group, it'd be awesome to do a split record with a band that I deal with that is animal rights oriented and the vegan hiphop group Dead Prez. Think they might have gotten scared off when they actually looked at my label but I think that would be the coolest thing ever.

7 - In my little world, the only known band from Raleigh is C.O.C.
Do you know they are just back with the "Animosity" line up?
What do you think of them...and please tell us about more bands/venues from your area!
COC was rad the other day when I saw them, I have pictures from it even. The show was a little mellow as far as the crowd was cocerned which was slightly disappointing . I'm surprised you didn't namedrop Double Negative too... those dudes are/have been blowing up. Let me do a fastcore speed list of bands and what they are about... Devour - heavy, spastic, and non-repetative, Thieves - angry fast fast hardcore, Stripmines - Siege/Heresy worshiping pissed hardcore, Old Painless - super new techish grind band, Burma - young kids, new band, think Converge mixed with powerviolence, No Tomorrow - crust from two hours away at the beach.

8 - Are you making a living off the label?
If so, has it been hard to reach that level?
And if you aren't, what is your daily job?
Is it hard to have a daily life and running a label?
Oh hell no. I'm probably losing money on the label... I mean I was selling $3 7"s for a long time, now I hardly charge much more. Larger labels get a huge break by pressing a ton of records and then turn around and sell a 7"s for $6 or an LP for $15. That is what it takes to reach that level. I do IT (computers) for the state of North Carolina for a day job. I have figured out a decently good way to balance life and the label.. I limit the amount of time I work on it. One day a week is a record packing day, maybe one on the weekend, and one shipping day. I try to work on label stuff during my day job as much as I can. TLAL is a labor of love, I have no kids and no pet.. this is where my time goes.

9 - Future plans and releases
Are you ready for the insane (I'm going to be mega broke) list:
TLAL40 - xBrainiax - Deprogrammed CD+
TLAL42 - Agathocles / Violent Gorge - split 7"
TLAL44 - Unholy Grave / Tinner - split 7"
TLAL45 - Assholeparade - Live in Rostock 10"
TLAL46 - Magnum Force - Self-Loathing 7"
TLAL47 - Backslider- s/t 7"
TLAL48 - Godstomper / Dos Amigos - split 7"
TLAL49 - Mehkago N.T. - Massive Fucking Headwound LP
TLAL50 - V/A - To Live A Lie 7"
TLALXX - Archagathus - Canadian Horse LP
TLALXX - V/A - Third Wave Powerviolence CD
TLALXX - Deathrats - TBA 7"
TLALXX - Suffering Luna - TBA LP
TLALXX - Seasick - Eschaton LP
TLALXX - Get Destroyed! - Shut In 7"

10 - Are you going to reprint those cool TLAL caps? (This one is for me ahahahahah)
Oh man those were from forever ago. My suggestion, take a black hat.. get a white out pen and make an awesome customized one of a kind flip hat of your own. Out mutual homie Steveo got a hat airbrushed at the fair with TLAL on it and it looks amazing. DIY fashion!

(this is our mutual friend Steve-o representin' TLAL records)

Thanx to Will for his precious time.

NERVI - è solo una questione di nervi demo (2003)

Here we go.
I thought it could be cool to post here some old demos/records of bands i played with in the past.

Nervi was formed on the ashes of OxGxMx, a sort of very basic punk/funk band with female singer, trying to follow the steps of bands like Submission Hold or Sakè (if you think this description sounds charming well...actually, we sucked hard).
After that band splitted, the 3 original members (bass/guit and me on drums) recruited Melo on vocals (ex- By All Means, Society Of Jesus, Egotismo, No Somos Nada...and so on) and started playing something between grindcore/powerviolence and hc thrash. Melo, having just moved from Modena to Milano, seemed enthusiast and everything worked fine for a couple of years. The band was located in the Milano area, and at the time we were all squatter punx living at La Villa Occupata, an old anarchist squat ten years old situated in the northern side of the city. We played a lot of shows, and even made a couple of small tours outside our country (germany, switzerland, holland) before our guitar player Dimitri decided to leave the city for the ligurian hills...after this band disbanded, another story called THRASH BRIGADE started.
Note: this demo was originally released  tape only format. Actually, i don't have a camera to put some pictures of the layout or the lyrics, but later i will add some.
